Why one night a week works.
Rugby season is a grind. One focused hour a week at Elite, stacked on top of club practice, is enough to build real strength and speed without wearing athletes down. We test in week one and retest in week six so every player sees the change.
The film
Built for contact.
Strength, power, quick feet and repeat sprint. This is what a Scots winter at Elite looks like.

What the training covers
Rugby strength, Elite method.
Four things decide a rugby player's winter: how much force they can put into contact, how fast they can produce it, how quickly they get to the next ruck, and whether they're still standing in March.

Strength
Win the collision.
Squat, hinge, push, pull and carry, loaded and progressed every week. Stronger legs and trunk for the scrum, the tackle and the clean-out, and the neck and shoulder work that keeps players in the game.

Power
Strength turned into speed.
Jumps, medicine ball throws and sled drives that teach the body to produce force fast. This is the first step off the line and the leg drive through contact.

Speed
Faster to the breakdown.
Acceleration mechanics, max velocity and repeat-sprint conditioning, so the fourth sprint of a phase looks like the first.

Agility & resilience
Brake, plant, go. And stay healthy.
Deceleration and cutting mechanics that hold up at full speed, plus the mobility and landing work that lowers injury risk in a contact sport.
Six weeks
The plan
Holiday weeks are skipped, so six sessions run across about seven weeks. Exact dates post once nights are set.
Proud sponsor of the Littleton Scots. Stronger together this winter.
